Five million and counting-Americans out of work. Some of those workers have been scratching their heads for years over the decisions made by the Presidents of their companies.
I think there is a reason for change. A person earns 3,000 times the amount of the average worker in a company. He has lost billions of dollars. Leaves the company with a multi-million dollar bail out, and marches on to destroy another company. It seems to be very similar to an old zombie flick, these characters never die. The just show up in a new disguise in another company.
I am trying to make contact with people of common sense who feel they could do it for less and do it better. Every corporation has a board of directors, they should be elected by stockholders when in effect they are usually selected by upper management and are recommend to the stock holders. As a stock holder I have never been asked to send in a name of a possible director prior to the little ballot that shows up with an annual report asking me for a yes or no on the directors most of them already in place.
Why don't the directors revolt. Why pay 5,000,000 to 100,000,000 for a corporate president.
How many of you out there would take the job for $500,000 and a company car and a severance package of less than a million but not less then $250,000. Well it sound OK to me. Having reached the position of president you would be immune from long term unemployment. There is always a market for ex-presidents. If you don't get a new position as president of a company in a short time you could easily hire a ghost writer and tell your tale.
So if you have an interest in becoming president of a company with great perks but not be paid over $3,000,000 dollars a year. You should be willing to sign a contract that is short term three years or less, renewable at the discretion of the stockholders and board. With a good but not excessive parachute. To qualify you must have no experience in the companies operations other than what anyone might pick up a reader of the news, or a customer of the companies products or services.
Having people of no proven abilities come into these positions will bring a fresh look at how the company operates. It will give their workers real hope that they can have a life that is considered important because the board has chosen to axe the idea that someone is worth so much more than they are as people.
You are invited to join the Next Presidents. Spread the word, especially among the 5,000,000 or so who have applied for unemployment benefits, because of their ex-president's miss calculations.
Welcome to our discussion.
This is a first stab for me. I hope to find people with interesting stories and eventually get some companies to look at the insanity of their management policies. Eventually together we may find directors with spine enough to sign us up as the Next Presidents.
